Prostate Cancer Expert Dr. James Mohler Speaks at House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Hearing

Dr. James Mohler, Senior Vice President for Translational Research and Chair, Department of Urology, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, was invited to give expert testimony today (March 4) at an important hearing before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Some of the nation’s most prominent medical experts presented testimony on “Prostate Cancer: New Questions About Screening and Treatment.” Dr. Mohler’s testimony focused on the use of PSA and the early detection, treatment and overtreatment of prostate cancer. He also made recommendations based on outcomes data.

Dr. Mohler serves as the chair of the NCCN Guidelines Panel for Prostate Cancer, the group that develops the national “best practice” guidelines for prostate cancer care.

The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, chaired by Representative Edolphus Towns (10-NY), is the main investigative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. It has jurisdiction to investigate any federal program and any matter with federal policy implications.
