Maroone Family’s $1 Million Gift Boosts Campaign at Roswell Park

Western New York natives give back to help their Buffalo neighbors

BUFFALO, NY - Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is another $1 million closer to completing its $40 million Making Room to Save Lives capital campaign thanks to a generous gift from Albert and  Katherine "KitMaroone of Boca Raton, Florida. The Maroones formerly lived in the Buffalo area and owned The Maroone Auto Group. They are active philanthropists in Southern Florida where they have been longtime residents.

“We’re really advocates of Western New York because that’s where we lived most of our lives,” said Mr. Maroone, a Niagara Falls native who was raised in Buffalo. “I try not to forget where we came from, which is why we want to give whatever we can to the Buffalo area.”

Firm believers in investing in medical, research and education programs—the Maroones said they feel strongly about investing in the work of Roswell Park and its expansion needs.

“We feel that if we can do something for Roswell Park we should do it. We believe in Dr. Trump and his staff and mission. This new building has a clear purpose— to help the people of Western New York and also people from across the United States and abroad who are in need of Roswell Park’s services. It’s something we knew right away we wanted to be a part of.”

Donald L. Trump, MD, FACP, President and CEO of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, shared that the Maroone’s gift helps continue the momentum created after Roswell Park’s June 8 announcement of 10 other families that also gave $1 million each. The campaign currently has raised $32.1 million toward its goal.

“The Maroone’s gift shows that no matter where true Buffalonians travel or live, their generosity shines through for the causes that matter most,” said Trump. “This gift will make a tremendous difference for building the Clinical Sciences Center and expanding our Chemotherapy Infusion Clinic, Comprehensive Breast Services and Patient Education/Survivorship Services.”
