All-Star Night

White-tie gala to benefit cancer research and patient care at Roswell Park.

The 19th annual All Star Night, Roswell Park's white-tie gala presented by HSBC, was held on Saturday, October 24th, at Shea’s Performing Arts Center. All Star Night featured a silent auction, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in Shea’s magnificent lobby. Guests also experienced the grandeur of this historical theatre on stage for dinner, fabulous live auction items, and our prestigious award presentations to Roswell Park scientists and volunteers.

At this year's All Star Night, NFL Hall of Famer Mike Haynes shared his unique story of prostate cancer survivorship as he received the Gilda Radner Courage Award in recognition of his advocacy efforts. Read more about Mike Haynes here. Additional honorees included Dr. James Marshall, Senior Vice President for Cancer Prevention and Population Sciences, who received the Thomas B. Tomasi MD, PhD Achievement Award; and William McLaughlin, a longtime volunteer, Ride For Roswell participant and patient advocate, who was recognized with the Katherine Anne Gioia Inspiration Award. Read more about the evening's honorees and additional All Star Night details here.

On this special evening, over $341,000 was raised, including more than $150,000 for the Western New York Robotic Surgical Center located at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. This center provides cancer patients minimally invasive procedures that lends to fewer complications, less blood loss and faster recovery. The Center offers comprehensive training for robotic surgical teams on the Robotic Surgical Simulator (RoSS) developed and patented through a combined effort between UB and Roswell. Thank you to our All Star Night attendees for their generous support of this Fund-an-Item auction. Your gifts will help our surgeons remain at the forefront of this important new technology.
