Roswell Park scientists are conducting research ranging from structure and function studies of biological compounds to preclinical studies of new anticancer agents. Scientists are involved in major laboratory programs in biophysics, biochemistry, immunology, genomics, cancer pathology and prevention, molecular biology, cell biology, cancer genetics, molecular pharmacology and cancer therapeutic development.
The RPCI Graduate Division of the University at Buffalo (UB) offers five PhD programs and one Master degree with an enrollment of approximately 160 students.
Pre-doctoral candidates are recruited from undergraduate science programs in the U.S.A. and from around the world. Each year, approximately 25 doctoral and 30 master degree students are selected to study at RPCI from a highly competitive pool of applicants. In general, applicants are interested in pursuing a career in cancer or basic and translational biomedical research. Results of a survey of past graduates has documented that doctoral graduates attained high quality postdoctoral positions and tenure-track, permanent positions in peer institutes.
The RPCI Graduate Division is part of the University at Buffalo, the largest public graduate and research center in New York and New England. A faculty of 4,000 full-time and affiliated instructors provides educational opportunities to 26,000 students each year. Almost 8,000 of these are enrolled in graduate and post-baccalaureate professional programs. RPCI is the largest of more than a dozen investigative centers and institutes. UB enjoys an international reputation, attracting students from all over the world and maintaining scholarly exchanges with institutions in several nations and is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU).
