Description of Duties: 

The IMCU NP is a member of the critical care team. His/her primary responsibility is the management of a caseload of complex patients in the intermediate care setting and he/she may be asked to assist in the care of patients in the intensive care setting as needed. The IMCU NP will have specialized skills and knowledge related to the critical care setting in which he/she practices and performs physical exams, collects and documents date, conducts approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications and provides direct patient care for critical care services.

Qualifications: 

Minimum qualifications:
License and Certification Requirements
1. License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York; and
2. Current Nurse Practitioner certification in New York State; and
3. Certification or eligibility for certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or other national certifying body recognized by Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA).

Education and Experience
Master’s degree in Nursing.

NOTES:
As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or other national certifying body recognized by Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) within nine (9) months of their appointment to this title as required by Medicare.

Hours/Shift: 
Full-time; Days; 80 hours bi-weekly
