Description of Duties: 

The Critical Care RN will be required to perform duties in both IMCU and ICU including but not limited to: cardiac monitoring, administration of vasoactive medications, respiratory management and ventilator therapy. This incumbant must be able to assume the care of patients in this medical/surgical setting and is responsiable for managing/coordinating patient care and unit based activites. The nurse in the charge role will also supervise all nursing personnel on assigned shift and unit, make patient care assignments based on job descriptinops and individual staff capabilities, assess plan, implement and evaluate patient care, implement the performance appraisal process of subordinates on assigned shift. This incumbant must also demonstrate the ability to work with staff members in the identification and resolution of problems related to the management and function of all nursing areas, demonstrate knowledge of institute and departmental organization, utilize appropriate channels of verbal and non-verbal communication skills and participate in in-service and staff development programs and demonstrate professional conduct in the work environment.

Qualifications: 

Applicants must possess a license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York and have graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time oncology nursing experience; or
graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time critical care experience; or graduation from an accredited school of nursing, the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting and completion of orientation with the ability to function independently at a satisfactory level for three (3) months (full-time); or graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting.

NOTE
Incumbents will serve a one (1) year full-time probationary period as a Nurse II.

The preferred candidate will have a BSN and a specialty certification (CCRN, PCN, or OCN). The preferred candidate will also have Critical Care or Telemetry experience and a satisfactory time and attendance record.
