Description of Duties: 

The Clinical Laboratory Technician performs simple and complex laboratory test procedures in a clinical histology laboratory. This incumbent's duties include the preparation, accessioning, embedding, sectioning, processing, routine and specialized staining of tissue sections for routine and specialized histological evaluation; performs quality control, preventative maintenance, and quality assurance activates; participates in the training of other laboratory staff and students rotating through the laboratory; maintains the laboratory operations in compliance with NYSDOH, Joint Commission, and other applicable regulatory standards.

Qualifications: 

Applicants must possess a license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technician in the State of New York; or an Associate’s degree in Medical Technology or a related health care discipline and eligibility for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technician in the State of New York.

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Cancer Institute as following acceptable educational practices.

The preferred candidate will have previous experience in routine histological procedures, frozen section techniques, and specialized staining procedures.

Hours/Shift: 
Temporary, M-F, 8:00am-4:00pm
Salary: 
$38,612 annually.
