Description of Duties: 

This Programmer/Analyst participates in functional changes for laboratory information systems in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine; makes recommendations as appropriate; assists in the planning, modification, and maintenance of laboratory information system designs to reflect evolving laboratory processes and procedures; monitors program execution and initiates modifications as needed; resolves production errors by tracing programming error(s) and re-coding; validates corrected programs to ensure quality output; assists with the development and maintenance of laboratory information systems standard operating procedures; provides technical assistance for laboratory informatics-related hardware and software and evaluates equipment required to support laboratory information systems.

Qualifications: 

Applicants must posess a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems or a related field and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in programming of mainframe or PC information systems as it relates to technology used at the Institute.

NOTE: Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Cancer Institute as following acceptable educational practices.

The preferred candidate will have the following:

1. Healthcare clinical application experience.

2. Ability to translate workflow processess and develop within applications.

3. Programming experience in JavaScript, VB, or VB Script.

4. Experience  with SQL server and report writing.

5. Familiary with SQL Oracle operating systems.

6. HPUX/HPIX experience.
