Carl D. Morrison, MD, DVM, has been appointed Director of the Division of Molecular Pathology in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI).
Dr. Morrison will direct translational research efforts and the shared research resources in the department using sophisticated tests for the detection and diagnosis of cancer and innovative procedures for providing tumor samples to investigators for research.
Dr. Morrison comes to RPCI from Ohio State University (OSU) where he most recently served as Assistant Professor of Pathology, Director of Pathology Core Facility, and Principal Investigator for the Cooperative Human Tissue Network.
At Roswell Park, Dr. Morrison will direct the Pathology Resource Network, which includes the Tissue Procurement Service, Paraffin Archive and Pathology Core Facility. Dr. Morrison will continue to pursue his research into cancer specimens using in-situ hybridization and tissue microarray, as well as his leadership on a national basis as part of the College of American Pathologists Molecular Pathology Committee.
Dr. Morrison earned his doctor of veterinary medicine from Ohio State in 1982 and a medical degree from the University of Kentucky in 1998. He completed his residency training in Anatomic Pathology in 2001 and fellowships in Cytology in 2002 at the OSU Medical Center where he continued as a faculty member until coming to RPCI. He earned board certification in Veterinary Medicine and Anatomic Pathology.
Dr. Morrison is a member of the American College of Pathology, United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, and the American Society of Investigative Pathology. He has authored or co-authored more than 60 journal articles, abstracts and book chapters.
