Dr. Janet Morgan joined the faculty of Roswell Park Cancer Institute in 1992, as a Research Affiliate in the Department of Dermatology, and was appointed to the position of Research Scientist in 1995. She also serves as Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, University at Buffalo.
Dr. Morgan earned her doctoral degree in Hematology from University College London in 1990, and completed a Royal Society European Exchange Fellowship in the Department of Urology, Henri Mondor Hospital, Creteil, France, in 1992.
Dr. Morgan’s research interests include investigations of phototoxic mechanisms at a molecular level; targets and mechanisms of photodynamic therapy (PDT) toxicity in mitochondria; role of peripheral benzodiazepine receptors in mechanisms of PDT sensitivity; development and characterization of aminolevulinic acid and protoporphyrin IX PDT-resistant clones; and the role of stress proteins in PDT.
Dr. Morgan is a member of the International Photodynamic Association, American Society for Photobiology, and European Society for Photobiology.
Dr. Morgan has authored or co-authored more than 20 journal publications, book chapters and abstracts. She is an Ad Hoc Reviewer for the British Journal of Cancer, Cancer Research, Cancer Prevention, International Journal of Radiation Biology, Investigative Dermatology, Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology, Photochemistry and Photobiology, and Colloids and Interface.
