Roswell Park is accepting applications for a 12 month Medical Dosimetry Program.
A Medical Dosimetrist is a professional that designs radiation treatment plans specific to each cancer patient’s prescription. This is done with the use of state-of-the-art 3-D graphics and patient imaging along with collaboration with other radiation oncology professionals.
Students from Roswell Park's program will acquire the professional skills of dose calculation, treatment design, special procedures and quality assurance through a combination of classroom and clinical education.
The curriculum consists of detailed didactic sessions covering medical dosimetry, medical imaging, radiation physics, cross sectional anatomy, computer applications, radiation oncology, radiation biology and radiation safety. Clinical rotations with clinical staff and equipment will also educate students in the practical aspects of patient imaging, patient care, patient treatment, dosimetry planning and radiation measurements.
The curriculum meets or exceeds the standards for a medical dosimetry program as published by the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists (AAMD). Upon completion of the program, graduates receive a certificate of completion. Graduates must complete six months of clinical training and are then eligible to take the certification examination administered by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB).

Requirements include:
- Graduation from an accredited program in radiation therapy technology
or - A baccalaureate degree in the sciences with credits earned in the following courses: calculus, English, basic physics, biology and anatomy and physiology
