Referral Information
The last thing your patients want to hear is that they have a diagnosis of cancer. However, when you refer a patient to RPCI, you can do so with the utmost confidence that you have made the best decision for your patient.
You have ensured that he or she will receive confidential, competent care and treatment, and will be made to feel welcome and secure.
At RPCI, a new patient may be seen by several doctors from different oncology specialties. The medical team then confers to recommend a treatment plan. This multidisciplinary team will typically include a surgical oncologist, a medical oncologist, a radiation oncologist, a radiologist, a pathologist as well as nurses, occupational and physical therapists, and in some cases a psychologist.
As a referring physician, our medical team will make every effort to keep you fully informed and up-to-date on treatments, procedures and other relevant information that pertains to your patient. When your patient is returned to your care, you will be current on his or her status and further treatment requirements. Our medical team is a source of hope, encouragement and information for all of our patients, and we encourage the team concept of recovery among our staff, our patients, patients’ family members and friends and you, the primary care physician.
