Dr. Schiff was appointed Associate Professor of Oncology, Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and Co-Director of Translational Endoscopy in the Department of Medicine at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) in 2005. He came to RPCI from the University of Florida where he served as Associate Professor of Medicine.
Dr. Schiff earned his medical degree from the University of Toronto (1976); completed postdoctoral training in internal medicine at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Ontario (1978); and a Gastroscopy training program at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia (1979). He completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology in 1982 at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Schiff also studied at a post-doctoral level neuroscience and immunology. Dr. Schiff is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in Gastroenterology.
Dr. Schiff’s research interests include colon cancer; the diagnosis and etiology of Graft Versus Host Disease and Barrett’s Esophagus, capsule endoscopy, and magnification chromoendoscopy.
Dr. Schiff is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of the American Gastroenterologic Association, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American College of Gastroenterology. He has published more than 20 abstracts and papers.
