Dr. Asher A. Chanan-Khan joined the staff of Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) in 2001, as an Attending Physician in the Department of Medicine. A graduate of Allama Iqbal Medical College, Punjab University, Pakistan, Dr. Chanan-Khan completed residency training in Internal Medicine at the College of Physicians & Surgeons, Columbia University, Harlem Hospital Center (1997), and fellowships in Clinical Hematology (1998) and Clinical Oncology (1999) at the New York University (NYU) School of Medicine.
Dr. Chanan-Khan comes to RPCI from Dr. Kenichi Takeshita's laboratory at NYU where he served as a research fellow and was involved in studying the homeobox genes in pathogenesis of hematologic malignancies.
Dr. Chanan-Khan is licensed by New York State and New Jersey. He is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty eligibility in Medical Oncology/Hematology. Dr. Chanan-Khan also is Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, University of Buffalo.
Dr. Chanan-Khan's research interests include novel therapies for multiple myeloma and chronic
lymphocytic leukemia.
Dr. Chanan-Khan is a diplomate with the American Board of Internal Medicine and a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncologists, the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association. He has authored or co-authored several journal publications, book chapters and abstracts.
