Richard R. Matner, PhD, MBA, joined the faculty at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) in 2005 as Director of Technology Transfer and Commercial Development.
Dr. Matner leads a department that assists researchers with analyzing the market potential, competitive landscape and economic value of the technology developed within Roswell Park. He is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to maximize the commercial development of Roswell Park research, oversee patenting, licensing, and marketing of technologies and create opportunities to match technology development with research capabilities.
Dr. Matner comes to RPCI from 3M Corporation, Health Care Division, St. Paul, MN, where he spent 21 years in life science research and business development. Over the last 15 years, he was primarily responsible for commercialization of technologies developed within various life sciences divisions of 3M.
Dr. Matner earned a doctorate in Molecular Biology (1980) from the University of Rochester and a Masters of Business Administration (1993) from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN. He is the inventor and patent holder of a number of commercialized diagnostic products.
