Genomics Shared Resource
Description
The Genomics Shared Resource will afford RPCI investigators a full spectrum of services for parallel analyses of genomes and their expression. Applications of this technology include large scale Copy Number detection, SNP genotyping and methylation (21K BAC array, Affymetrix and Illumina Infinium), global gene expression profiling (Agilent miRNA and Illumina miRNA and whole genome arrays), targeted methylation and SNP genotyping (Sequenom MassARRAY, TaqMAN ABI 7900 HT and Illumina GoldenGate). Variations of these applications can be utilized to: detect and map chromosomal aberrations and SNPs, profile gene expression patterns, identify differences between two populations of DNA or RNA (ie. tumor vs normal, treated vs. untreated cell populations), determine the effect of therapeutic agents on the genome and their effect on gene expression, and determine the effect of genetic alterations on gene expression patterns in transgenic and knockout mice. The facility also maintains and provides genomic clones for seven large insert genomic BAC/PAC libraries as a resource for RPCI investigators. In addition, investigators with high throughput projects are supported by the robotics infrastructure within the facility.

Investigators can request genotyping, methylation and microarray services including BAC and oligo array CGH, large scale SNP detection, targeted SNP genotyping, copy number determination, quantitative miRNA and global gene expression, and targeted and global methylation studies. Other services include RNA/DNA isolation, Cy-3 & Cy-5 probe generation, array hybridizations to Agilent miRNA arrays, Illumina BeadChips and Affymetrix DNA arrays. The GSR also manufactures custom-made cDNA, oligo and genomic BAC arrays, provides scanning of microarrayed slides and basic image analysis. In addition to the three cDNA libraries, seven BAC/PAC genomic libraries are available for clone selection, characterization, mapping, and distribution.
Investigators should contact Jeff Conroy (716-845-3361) for details. Priority is given to NCI-funded investigators with RPCI affiliation, and as determined by the RPCI Microarray Steering Committee.
User Fees
There is a chargeback system for users of the RPCI DNA Microarray and Genomics Facility. The fees vary depending on the affiliation of the investigator, cost of materials and the extent of services requested from the user (fee schedule).
Billing Procedure
On line ordering or requisition forms must be completed, including purchase order/account number and signature, and submitted along with the sample(s) and signed MTA (if required). Billing is done at the completion of the service.
