Using the Gene Expression Resource
Services
The Gene Expression Resource offers a broad array of technologies at your disposal. The Resource provides all Affymetrix Genechip services. For a list of available arrays click here.
The Resource now offers PyroSequencing as a service. For pricing, contact Jenniffer Rothschild, x3958.
The Agilent Bioanalyzer is available as a service for assessing RNA quality.
Steps for Successful Project Completion
- Contact the Gene Expression Resource, x1740, to discuss project design, sample requirements, pricing, etc.
- Make an appointment to drop off your samples.
- Complete MIAME form. (All fields must be completed or data cannot be published.)
- Drop off samples on designated date/time.
- Pick up your data, after we contact you that it is completed.
Sample Submission
- For all GeneChip services, a MIAME form must be completed, including grant number and signature, for submission with the sample(s). An appointment must be made to drop off samples. Samples submitted without an appointment or outside of the agreed upon time will be denied. A fee will be charged for extraction of DNA/RNA from tissue or cell culture samples.
- For Bioanalyzer services only, a Bioanalyzer Request Form must be completed, including grant number and signature, for submission with the sample(s). Users are charged at the satisfactory completion of service.
Sample Requirements
- One-Cycle Expression Arrays: Samples should be a minimum of 15ug of total RNA, and at a concentration between 0.8 and 3.5ug/ul.
- Two-Cycle Expression Arrays: Samples should be a minimum of 1ug of total RNA, and at a concentration between 35 and 200ng/ul.
- Exon Arrays: Samples should be a minimum of 10ug of total RNA, and at a concentration between 1.0 and 3.5ug/ul.
- All Other Arrays: Contact Jenniffer Rothschild, x3958, to discuss project design and sample requirements.
- PyroSequencing: For pricing, call Jenniffer Rothschild.
- Bioanalyzer: Samples of total RNA should be 3ul and at a concentration between 200 and 500ng/ul. Samples submitted that do not meet these criteria will be subject to an additional fee.
If your samples do not meet the above requirements, please contact the Gene Expression Resource to discuss your project prior to submission.
Equipment Available for Use by Appointment
