Dr. Patricia A. Masso-Welch joined the staff of Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI), in 2000, as an Affiliate Member in the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics. She also serves as an Instructor, Molecular Pharmacology and Cancer Therapeutics Program, Roswell Park Graduate Division, University at Buffalo.
Dr. Masso-Welch earned her doctoral degree in Molecular Immunology from the Roswell Park Graduate Division, University at Buffalo in 1995. She completed postdoctoral training in the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics at RPCI in 2000.
Dr. Masso-Welch research interests include chemoprevention by dietary CLA-induced modulation of multiple targets within the mammary stroma, to increase resistance to cancer development, progression, and metastasis; investigation of the chemopreventive and therapeutic efficacy of cholesterol-3-sulfate in breast cancer, by examining its effects on normal and transformed breast epithelial cells in vitro and in vivo; and the expression of specific PKC isoforms in maintaining a normal versus transformed breast epithelium during normal differentiation and carcinogenesis.
Dr. Masso-Welch is a member of the American Society of Cell Biologists and the American Association for Cancer Research.
Dr. Masso-Welch has authored or co-authored more than 25 journal publications, book chapters and abstracts.
