Kasturirangan, Venugopalan, PhD
E-mail: Venugopalan.Kasturirangan@RoswellPark.orgDr. Venugopalan Kasturirangan earned his Ph.D., in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from North Dakota State University, where he specialized in the study of acyl-CoA dehydrogenase and acyl-CoA oxidase catalyzed reactions. Dr. Kasturirangan received his post-doctoral training in the Microbiology Department of GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals where his research focused on biochemical aspects of anti-bacterial compounds and antibiotic resistance.
Owing to his interest in cancer research, he joined the laboratory of Dr. John McGuire as a post-doctoral associate in the Pharmacology and Therapeutics Department of Roswell Park Cancer Institute. During this period he investigated the signaling pathway involved in enhanced antifolate uptake in leukemic cells. Beginning March 2007, he joined the Department of Radiation Medicine under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Khan to pursue the design and successful implementation of novel nanodevices for cancer therapy.
