Profile
Dr. Abrams received his PhD in Microbiology and Immunology at Indiana University in Indianapolis, and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. He then joined the Laboratory of Tumor Immunology and Biology, NCI, and in 1998 was appointed as a Principal Investigator.
Dr. Abrams recently joined the faculty at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) as an Associate Member in the Department of Immunology and Associate Professor of Oncology at RPCI. Throughout his career, his work has focused on fundamental problems in tumor immunology and tumor escape. At the NCI, he has received Federal Technology Transfer Awards in 1996, 1998, 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007 for discovery of human T lymphocyte peptide epitopes reflecting ras codon 12 mutations. His more recent work is dedicated to studying basic aspects of host T cell-tumor cell interactions in vivo in order to gain a better understanding of the pathogenesis of tumor progression, as well as the development of strategies for the immunotherapy of malignant disease.
