Study Credits Smoke-Free Law for Fewer Heart Attacks
BUFFALO, NY (2007-10-02) A new study from the State Health Department says New York's Clean Indoor Air Act has contributed to a reduction in the number of heart attacks.
The state enacted its indoor smoking ban in 2003. A year later, there was an eight percent decline in hospital admissions for heart attacks. The study, which was co-authored by Dr. Andrew Hyland of the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, credits the Clean Indoor Air Act for the reduction.

Roswell Park Cancer Institute has launched a new ad campaign directed at Generation Y, the 12-to-26-year-old set.
The ambitious vision of the campaign, titled, "Y Roswell," is to create a world that's cancer-free, hospital officials said. The centerpiece of the campaign is a new Web site, www.yroswellpark.com.
