Therapy Dogs
Volunteer Pet Program at Roswell Park
The Department of Volunteers Services coordinates a program to allow Therapy Dogs to visit patients, families and visitors at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
The current group of therapy dogs (and their owners) include:
- Tara Jane, English Springer Spaniel (Pauline Barrick) – every other Monday
- Jake (photo), Pappillion (Cindy Lamarco) – every other Monday
- Sandy, Lab/Cocker mix (Peter Schreiber) – every other Wednesday
- Rorie, Goldendoodle (Sandy Szopinski) – every other Wednesday
- Boogie, Boxer (Lisa Hatch) – every other Tuesday
- Stryder, Golden Retriever (Dr. Jill Kaplan) – every other Thursday
- Teva, Labrador Retriever (Jan & Rob Freeman) – every other Friday AM
- Buddy, Bassett Hound (Kathy Kowalczyk) – every other Friday AM
- Sadie, Dachshund (Kathy Krewer) – every other Friday PM
- Madison, Bearded Collie (Annie & Richard) – Friday PM
The program uses only certified dogs (either Therapy Dogs International (TDI) or Delta Society's Pet Partners) with their volunteer owner. At this time, seven dogs and their owners visit the Institute and are often available during clinical hours 10:30 - 2:30 pm.
