Overview

Roswell Park Cancer Institute’s Melanoma Team offers comprehensive programs for the diagnosis and treatment of the skin cancers. At Roswell Park, board-certified physicians, including specialists in surgery, radiation oncology, medical oncology, dermatology, pathology, radiology, anesthesiology, psychiatry and nutrition work as a team to provide optimal care for patients with these tumors.

During your treatment, you will follow a specific plan of care. Each plan is tailored for each individual. The information in this packet, however, will provide an overview of melanoma surgery. Your will learn what you must do and what will happen as we work together toward your recovery.

You and your physicians discussed various options for treatment and have decided on the most appropriate surgical procedure for you. Most patients who have this surgery leave the hospital the same day of surgery. This guide will help you understand your surgical procedure and how to use Roswell Park’s patient and family services.
