Microneurosurgery
Microsurgical techniques enable the neurosurgeon to visualize a tumor and the surrounding normal brain anatomy with exceptional clarity.
The neurosurgeon uses a counter-balanced operating microscope with a digital video camera connected to monitors to promote coordination between the neurosurgeon and the other members of the surgical team.
Numerous other types of specially designed microsurgical instruments are used in conjunction with the microscope to dissect the tumor and to protect the brain and its related structures.
