Bladder Cancer
The Bladder Cancer team provides comprehensive, individualized care to patients with premalignant and malignant bladder disease. OverviewThe bladder is the hollow organ that stores urine. It is shaped like a small balloon and has a muscular wall that allows it to expand when full and return to normal after it is emptied. Urine passes from the two kidneys into the bladder through two tubes called ureters. When the bladder is emptied during urination, the urine goes from the bladder to the outside of the body through another tube called the urethra. Incidence This year more than 68,000 new cases of bladder cancer will be diagnosed in the United States. Most cancers of the bladder are diagnosed in people between the ages of 65 and 85. Men are diagnosed with bladder cancer more often than women. There are an estimated 600,000 bladder cancer survivors in the United States. Signs & Symptoms |
