Assistant Professor of Oncology, Roswell Park Cancer Institute
Instructor in Nuclear Medicine,
State University of New York
School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Buffalo
Dr. Lamonica joined Roswell Park after two Fellowships: the first in Nuclear Medicine at the State University of New York at Stonybrook, and the second in Nuclear Oncology at State University of New York at Buffalo.
Under Dr. Lamonica the Nuclear Medicine service has grown to become one of the busiest parts of Radiology, performing 7 to 10 PET/CT studies each day, along with a large volume of traditional scans [bone, cardiac (MUGA), DEXA, Octreoscan, MIBG, etc.].
Dr. Lamonica’s clinical subspeciality expertise is radioiodine therapy for thyroid cancer and all associated scanning/dosimetry techniques, including Thyrogen-stimulated total-body iodine studies and Thyrogen-stimulated PET/CT. His research has centered on the use of FDG-PET in lymphoma, particularly non-Hodgkin’s, as well as in radioimmunotherapy (with Dr. Myron Czuczman, Director of Lymphoma/Myeloma, Department of Medical Oncology at Roswell Park).
Dr. Lamonica participates fully in the training of Nuclear Medicine Residents from SUNY Buffalo and medical students as well.
