Swati Kulkarni, MD, joined the faculty at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in 2004 and is an Attending Physician in the Department of Surgical Oncology where she specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with breast cancer.
Dr. Kulkarni comes to RPCI from Lynn Sage Comprehensive Breast Center of Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, where she completed a fellowship in breast diseases. She earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, in 1995 were she was elected to the medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Kulkarni completed her surgical residency at the New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City and is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Kulkarni’s research interests include chemoprevention, risk assessment, familial breast cancer, obesity as a risk factor for breast cancer and molecular markers that predict recurrence after breast cancer diagnosis. She has received NIH funding to support her research and is the director of the RPCI Breast Cancer Risk Assessment and Prevention Program that focuses on women who are at increased risk of developing breast cancer.
Dr. Kulkarni is a member of a number of national organizations including the Society of Surgical Oncology and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, American Society of Breast Diseases, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Cancer and Leukemia Group B and the American Association for Cancer Research. She is the author or co-author of several journal articles, abstracts, and book chapters.
