Hyung L. Kim, MD, joined the faculty of Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) in 2004 as Attending Surgeon in the Department of Urologic Oncology where he specializes in the treatment of urologic malignancies and minimally invasive surgical treatments.
Dr. Kim earned his medical degree in 1996 and completed residency training in urology in 2002 at the University of Chicago - Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in Urologic-Oncology (National Institute of Health gene medicine training program) in 2003 and in laparoscopic/robotic surgery in 2004 at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Dr. Kim’s clinical research interests include minimally invasive surgical and robotic techniques for the treatment of urologic cancers. His laboratory research interests include novel immunotherapeutic strategies for the treatment of advanced kidney cancer and profiling of genes involved in blood vessel formation of kidney cancer. His research collaborators at RPCI are John Subjeck, PhD, and Xiang Wang, PhD in the Department of Cellular Stress Biology; Elizabeth Repasky, PhD in the Department of Immunology; and Kenneth Gross, PhD in the Department of Molecular Biology.
Dr. Kim is a member of the American Urologic Association, Society of Urologic Oncology and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
Dr. Kim is the author or co-author of more than 80 journal publications, abstracts and book chapters.
