Dr. Wainwright Jaggernauth joined the faculty of Roswell Park Cancer Institute in 2003 and was appointed Attending Physician to the Department of Radiation Medicine where he will specialize in the treatment of sarcomas and gynecological malignancies. He also is involved in RPCI's brachytherapy program and directs the RPCI Intra-Operative Radiation Therapy Program.
Dr. Jaggernauth earned his medical degree from the University of the West Indies, Mona, Kingston, Jamaica, in 1990 and completed research training in the Neurosurgery Laboratory at the Montefiore Medical Center, New York in 1999. He comes to RPCI from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he completed residency training in radiation oncology.
Dr. Jaggernauth's research interests include identifying genes involved in radiation sensitivity and resistance, the association of the human papilloma virus and cervical cancer, using selenium as a radiation protectant and developing strategies to better define tumor volumes for radiation treatment.
Dr. Jaggernauth has authored or co-authored several journal publications and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society for Therapeutic Radiation and Oncology, New York Roentgen Society, and the American Brachytherapy Society.
