Dr. Renuka V. Iyer joined the staff at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in 2004 as a staff physician in the Department of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Grant Medical College, University of Bombay, India in 1995 and did postdoctoral research at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia until 1998. She has completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center affiliated with Cornell University, NY and a fellowship in Medical Oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
Dr. Iyer is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialties in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. She also serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
Dr. Iyer is an ad-hoc reviewer for the journal Oncology and is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Association for Cancer Research and the Radiation Research Society. She has authored or co-authored several articles and abstracts in peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Iyer’s laboratory research interest involves understanding the mechanism of the anticancer effects of vitamin D. Her clinical research is focused on quality of life in cancer patients, and developing novel treatments for patients with upper aerodigestive cancers including non-small cell lung cancer, esophageal cancer, pancreatic cancer and cholangiocarcinoma.
