Dr. Robert P. Huben joined the staff of Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) in 1982, and was appointed Chief of Urologic Oncology, Department of Surgery, in 1985. He earned his medical degree at Cornell University Medical College, New York, NY, in 1976. Following residency training in General Surgery (1978) and Urology (1981) at the East Virginia School of Medicine, Norfolk, VA, he completed fellowship training in Urologic Oncology at RPCI in 1982.
Dr. Huben is licensed by New York State and is certified by the American Board of Urology (1983). He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Urology, University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and a member of the Medical/Dental Staff, Buffalo General Hospital.
Dr. Huben's research interests focus on applying new approaches for chemotherapy of renal cell carcinoma, such as sinusoidal infusion patterns and drug modulations; screening individuals at risk for developing bladder cancer; and determining the role of chemotherapy in hormone-refractory prostate cancer.
Dr. Huben is a member of many professional associations, including, among others, the American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, American Urological Association, and Society of Urologic Oncology. He has served three terms as President of RPCI's medical staff, and currently serves on a number of committees at RPCI and the University at Buffalo.
Dr. Huben has authored or co-authored more than 125 journal publications, book chapters and abstracts.
