Gottlieb, Ronald H., MD, MPH
Director of Body MR Imaging
Associate Professor of Oncology, Roswell Park Cancer Institute
Assistant Professor of Radiology,
State University of New York
School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Buffalo
Dr. Gottlieb came to Roswell Park after several years as tenured Associate Professor at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Strong Memorial Hospital. He had been a Fellow in Body Imaging at The University of Maryland and a Radiology Resident at North Shore University Hospital, New York. Ron is expert in Body CT and ultrasound, and has further developed his knowledge base and expertise in Body MR, so that he has become director of that service at Roswell. He earned his M.P.H. while on the full-time faculty at University of Rochester.
Dr. Gottlileb’s unique research concerns the use of imaging as a “biomarker” in cancer, to function as a surrogate for, and predictor of, survival; in this context he is engaged in a national effort to revise current reporting methodology and image analysis to reflect and predict the ultimate underlying reality of a patient’s condition—outcome—in lieu of the recitation of currently-accepted arbitrary measurements.
Ron was National IRAT (Imaging Response Assessment Team) Coordinator in 2007 and is currently Roswell’s representative to the national IRAT organization. Dr. Gottlieb has been rated at the very top as a teacher of medical students.
