Joyce M. Yasko, PhD, joined the staff of Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) in 2002, as Director of Clinical Research Services and was appointed Vice President of Clinical Research Administration and Services in 2005. She earned her Masters of Nursing Education with a specialization in Oncology in 1976 and completed her doctoral degree in College Administration in 1981 at the University of Pittsburgh, PA.
Dr. Yasko comes to RPCI from the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI), where she was Associate Director of all Clinical and Network Programs. She also is Professor Emeritus, University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and a Clinical Professor, University at Buffalo School of Nursing.
Dr. Yasko is responsible for the planning, design and implementation of the department of Clinical Research Services, including establishing policies and procedures to guide and facilitate clinical research, establishing and administering a formal orientation program and implementing education programs for clinical research staff. Dr. Yasko established an integrated model of research practice for the RPCI Multidisciplinary Centers, which assists clinical and translational scientists with clinical investigations with a special emphasis on investigator-initiated clinical research studies. This model will be applied in full in the new Clinical Research Center allowing clinical research studies to be implemented efficiently and effectively. She also is the Administrator for the RPCI Transplant Program and Department of Infection Control.
She has authored seven books and authored or co-authored more than 65 articles in refereed journals, abstracts and book chapters and was the principal investigator of several peer review funded clinical research studies. She has served as a consultant for many cancer and academic medical centers for issues related to clinical research and clinical practice.
