BUFFALO, NY – Faced with an increasing demand for chemotherapy and infusion services and to help meet the needs of cancer patients from Western New York, Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) has expanded its Amherst Center, 100 College Park, Amherst, NY.

“The volume of patients seeking care at the Amherst Center has exceeded expectations as patients and families living in the Northtowns have found convenient parking and reduced waiting times,” said Donald L. Trump, MD, President & CEO, RPCI. “Additionally, patient satisfaction surveys indicate that they are pleased with the efficiency, comfort and convenience of this location, so it was logical to expand the services offered at this location.”

The Center will offer expanded clinical services to patients diagnosed with specific types of cancers. Surgical and medical oncology services already available on site are:

• Lung cancer and other solid tumors: Alex Adjei, MD, PhD and Joseph Prah, MD
• High-Risk Prostate Cancer Clinic: Willie Underwood, MD and Khurshid Guru, MD
• Gynecology: Shashikant Lele, MD

The Center has increased its physical space by 2,800 square feet for a total of 8,200 square feet and added four additional examination rooms, a consultation room, two physician offices and increased nursing and clinical support. A phlebotomy laboratory and a chemotherapy preparation pharmacy also are on site.
