Roswell Park Seeking Musical Volunteers
BUFFALO, NY – Amateur and professional performers looking for an appreciative audience should look no further. Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) is expanding its “Music in the Lobby” program. Volunteers are being recruited to perform during the Farmer’s Market held each Wednesday from noon to 1 pm in the Kaminski Park and Gardens on the RPCI campus. Talented vocalists and musicians are invited to volunteer their time to entertain patients, their families, visitors, and employees.
The volunteer music program, an initiative of the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, gives performers an opportunity to demonstrate their skills to appreciative audiences. The program has been credited by patients, families, staff and visitors with cultivating an atmosphere of healing and hope. School choirs, soloists and instrumental groups are welcome. Musical programs are scheduled in half-hour to one-hour segments. The Roswell Park hospital lobby can accommodate up to 50 performers, and a baby grand piano is available. Prospective performers will be asked to audition.
For more information or to schedule a free performance, contact Debbie Miga, Assistant Coordinator, Volunteer Services, at 716-845-5708.
