Roswell Park Pastoral Care Division Appoints Chaplain
BUFFALO, NY – Reverend Norman P. McTigue has been appointed Catholic Chaplain in the Pastoral Care Division, Department of Psychosocial Oncology, at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI).
Father McTigue will offer pastoral care support to cancer patients and family members along with the Roswell Park interfaith Pastoral Care Team, including Beth Lenegan, PhD, Director of the Pastoral Care Division; Rev. Richard Kaylor; Rev. Daniel O’Leary; and Sara Schultz. He will offer the celebration of mass at the Institute each Friday and will be available 24 hours a day, five days a week, for emergency calls.
Father McTigue also is a chaplain at the Buffalo Psychiatric Center, where he is a member of the Critical Incident Stress Management Team and Ethics Committee. He has served previously as pastor of Our Lady of Loretto, Buffalo and St. Frances Cabrini, Collins Center. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Canisius College and a master of arts from the University of Toronto, and was ordained from St. John Vianney Seminary, East Aurora, NY.
The Pastoral Care Division is an interfaith department supporting a holistic approach to the treatment of cancer patients that emphasizes the integration of spiritual, emotional, social, psychological, and physical care. Working collaboratively with other health care professionals, the Pastoral Care Division provides spiritual care to all patients and families regardless of religious affiliation. The Pastoral Care Division is supported in-part by community donations made to Roswell Park.
