Roswell Park Hosts Lecture on Ethics of Human Research

BUFFALO, NY- Robert J. Levine, MD, Co-Director of Yale University’s Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics and one of the preeminent figures in the field of ethics of human research will present “The Ethics of Research Involving Human Subjects,” at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) Faculty Forum, at 8 am, October 3, at the Gaylord-Cary Meeting Room, Research Studies Center, RPCI. The public is invited to attend. Dr. Levine has devoted his career to the study of the field of medical ethics, specifically the ethics of research involving human subjects. He is the author of Belmont Report − Ethical Principles and Guidelines for Research Involving Human Subjects, which provides the ethical foundation of the human research subject protections in the United States. He has authored numerous publications, including the book Ethics and Regulation of Clinical Research and is the founding editor of IRB: A Review of Human Subjects Research.
Dr. Levine has served as a consultant to both federal and international agencies involved in the development of policy for the protection of human subjects, including the World Medical Association, US Department of Health and Human Services, and the National Institute of Mental Health.
The lecture is sponsored by the Office of Research Subject Protections at RPCI. The office supports, strengthens and provides oversight for the protection of participants in research.
