About Time Warner's WNY Heroes Series
The WNY Heroes series, airing weekdays on channel 13 at 3 pm, was designed to recognize ordinary people who accomplish extraordinary deeds in categories ranging from cultivating children to medical miracles. Call for nominations for heroes went out in May and were accepted until the end of June. Finalists were selected by a blue-ribbon panel. All Heroes are profiled as a part of the WNY Heroes series on "All That Matters."
“Time Warner Cable launched the WNY Heroes series to find the hidden gems that live in Western New York. We knew that we could only discover the wonderful selfless acts and stories of what people are doing by getting the community involved,” stated Robin L. Wolfgang, Vice President, Public & Government Affairs, Time Warner Cable’s Western New York Division. “Time Warner Cable congratulates our category finalists and looks forward to crowning winners in each category on November 19, 2008.”
Winners in each of the program’s five categories, “Guarding the Greater Good”, “Advancing Art”, “Community Crusader”, “Medical Miracles”, and “Cultivating Children”, will be chosen by online voting during the month of October. On November 19, Time Warner Cable All That Matters hosts Peter Anderson and Loraine O’Donnell, along with an array of notable local celebrity co-hosts to be announced later, will present the winners of the All That Matters WNY Heroes Awards during a special live awards broadcast on Channel 13 at 12 P.M. The gala will include musical performances and documentary tributes to each finalist.
