Leading Researcher to Present Alexander Bloch Memorial Lecture

BUFFALO, NY- Bruce A. Chabner, MD, Clinical Director, Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, will present the Alexander Bloch Memorial Lecture, Wednesday, May 23, at 8 am, in the David C. Hohn, MD Lecture Hall, Research Studies Center, Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI), Elm & Carlton Streets, Buffalo, NY. The lecture is open to the public.
Dr. Chabner’s topic will be “Phase I-II Trials: The Value of Biomarkers.” He will discuss the objectives of Phase I and II clinical trials; the role of biomarkers in these studies; and methods to identify and remove barriers to the effective use of biomarkers in research studies.
Dr. Chabner’s research interests center in the clinical testing, pharmacokinetics and biochemical pharmacology of new anticancer drugs, particularly natural products and signal transduction inhibitors.
The Alexander Bloch Memorial Lecture was established to honor Dr. Bloch’s distinguished career as a cancer researcher and his seminal contributions to the understanding of anticancer drugs, some of which are now used as standard therapies. Dr. Block retired from Roswell Park in 2002 after 40 years of dedicated service.
