Roswell Park Hosts 8th Annual Radiation Oncology Conference

BUFFALO, NY—Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) will host the 8th annual “Radiation Oncology Conference” for Therapists and Dosimetrists, September 13-15, at the Conference Center Niagara Falls, 101 Old Falls Street, Niagara Falls, NY.
The goal of this multidisciplinary conference is to provide therapists and dosimetrists with information on state-of-the-art treatment modalities and clinical support issues that are relevant to a unique and challenging patient population. The conference participants will discuss the technology behind tomotherapy-based radiation therapy delivery; examine the role of PET/CT in the diagnosis, staging and assessment of response to therapy; gain insight into common indications for definitive radiation therapy for primary cutaneous cancers; evaluate practical issues in IMRT planning including planning procedures and treatment delivery issues; discuss respiratory gating and partial breast radiation; and recognize the key indications for radiosurgery.

The three-day conference also includes the opportunity to tour the Department of Radiation Medicine at RPCI, which is on the leading edge of cancer research and treatment and continues to be a regional leader in bringing research-driven, innovative management practices to cancer patients through multidisciplinary partnerships. Its facilities span 20,000 square feet and include expansive patient treatment areas as well as state-of-the-art equipment.
The American Society of Radiation Technologists (ASRT) has designated this education activity for a maximum of 12 hours of Category A education credit. The Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board has approved this educational activity for 12 credits.
