ROSWELL PARK FACULTY TO PRESENT AT NATIONAL CANCER MEETING
BUFFALO, NY – Faculty members from Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) will present their research at the 41st annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), May 13-17, in Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, FL. ASCO is the world’s leading association of clinical cancer researchers and practitioners. More than 25,000 cancer specialists from around the world are expected to attend to discuss the latest advances in cancer care, treatment and prevention.
RPCI faculty members serving as co-chairs of oral presentation sessions are:
- Donald Trump, MD, Senior Vice President for Clinical Research, “Targeted Therapies for Genitourinary Cancer,” Saturday, May 14. 11:15 am – 12:30 pm.
- Maria Baer, MD, Department of Medicine, “Leukemia/Myeloma including Transplantation,” Monday, May 16, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm.
RPCI faculty members are authors on more than 15 abstracts which highlight their research in breast, colon, endometrial, leukemia, lung, ovarian, pancreatic and childhood cancers. The following will deliver oral presentations.
- Stephen Edge, MD, Department of Surgery, is an assigned discussant for “Practice Variations and Disparities in Breast Cancer,” (abstract # 6003-6005), Saturday, May 14, 9:30 am.
- Daniel Green, MD, Department of Pediatric Oncology, “Treatment of Wilms Tumor Relapsing after Initial Treatment with Vincristine, Actinomycin D and Doxorubicin. A report from the National Wilms Tumor Study Group.” (Abstract 8507), Sunday, May 15, 1:15 pm.
- Daniel Green, MD, Department of Pediatric Oncology, “Treatment of Anaplastic Wilms Tumor: A report from the National Wilms Tumor Study Group (Abstract 8508), Sunday, May 15, 1:30 pm.
In Buffalo, NY, RPCI will offer "Highlights of ASCO 2005" Saturday, June 18, 7:30
am - noon, in the Gaylord-Cary Meeting Room, Research Studies Center, RPCI, Elm & Carlton Streets. The program will provide primary care physicians, oncologists, urologists, gastroenterologists, gynecologists, pharmacists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants with a summary of the latest data and research findings in breast, lung, gastrointestinal and genitourinary cancers presented at the 41st annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. The program will focus on how these new data and research will impact on the care of cancer patients.
