Adams Appointed Pharmaceutical Chair at RPCI

BUFFALO, NY- Jonathan Adams, PharmD, has been appointed Assistant Vice President and Chief of Pharmacy Services at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI).
Dr. Adams will be responsible for cost-effective administration and management of the Department of Pharmacy Services according to established treatment guidelines, and provide leadership for all pharmaceutical services within Roswell Park including the development of enhanced clinical research opportunities and expansion of an accredited program for fellows, residents and pharmacy technicians.
Dr. Adams comes to RPCI from the Markey Cancer Center, University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, Lexington, KY, where he served as Assistant Director for Clinical Research and Director of Clinical Operations, Kentucky Lung Cancer Research Program, Clinical Trials Network. He also previously served as Associate Director of Medical and Regulatory Affairs, Quintiles, Inc. Dr. Adams retired from the Commissioned Corp of the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) in 1998 after 20 years of service. While in the USPHS he served in several clinical and administrative positions, lastly as the Head of the Clinical Research Pharmacy Section, Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program, Division of Cancer Treatment, for the National Cancer Institute. In this capacity, Dr. Adams was responsible for supervision of a section that supplied selected investigational anticancer agents to investigators throughout the world for compassionate use through the “Group C” Special Exception and Treatment IND mechanisms.
Dr. Adams earned his Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Kentucky in 1981. His research interests include the development of clinical trials networks to conduct research in the prevention, early detection and treatment of lung cancer; clinical research methodology for drug development; regulatory management of research; investigational drug management; and supportive care and symptom management.
Dr. Adams is a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Drug Information Association. He is author or co-author on several journal articles, book chapters and abstracts.
