Roswell Park Physician Selected for Leadership Role with National Quality Forum

BUFFALO, NY - Michael Kuettel, MD, MBA, PhD, the Barbara C. and George H. Hyde Chair of the Department of Radiation Medicine at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI), has been selected to serve on the Steering Committee for the “National Consensus Standards for Clinical Level Cancer Care” of the National Quality Forum (NQF). Dr. Kuettel also serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences.
The NQF is a not-for-profit membership organization created to develop and implement a national strategy for health care quality measurement and reporting. The purpose of the “National Consensus Standards for Clinical Level Cancer Care” is to identify and endorse measures for public accountability and quality improvement related to cancer care at the individual clinical level and enable consumers to make informed decisions about where to seek care.
Dr. Kuettel is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Brachytherapy Association, American Urological Association, American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, Radiation Research Society and Radiological Society of North America. He has collaborated with the national prostate cancer patient advocacy and support group – Us Too! – to establish the Buffalo Niagara Prostate Cancer Consortium, a unique partnership among community urologists, academic institutions, health care organizations, insurance companies and a comprehensive cancer center.
