Roswell Park Physician Honored with National Appointment
BUFFALO, NY – Ashwani Rajput, MD, FACS, Department of Surgery at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) has been appointed to a three-year term as Cancer Liaison Physician at RPCI by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC).
Dr. Rajput joins a national network of over 1,600 volunteer physicians who are responsible for providing leadership and direction to establish, maintain and support their facilities cancer program.
Cancer Liaison Physicians are responsible for spearheading CoC initiatives within their cancer program, collaborating with local agencies, such as the American Cancer Society, and facilitating quality improvement initiatives, utilizing data submitted to the CoC’s National Cancer Database.
At RPCI, Dr. Rajput’s research interests include the molecular basis for tumor metastases. He also is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Association for Academic Surgery and the Society of Surgical Oncology.
The CoC is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving the survival and quality of life for cancer patients. The Commission achieves it goal through standard setting, cancer prevention, research and education activities, as well as monitoring comprehensive quality care.
