Roswell Park Surgeon Elected to Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons
BUFFALO, NY- Boris W. Kuvshinoff, II, MD, attending surgeon in the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery at Roswell Park Cancer Institute has been elected to the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).
SAGES members include general surgeons, colorectal surgeons, and osteopathic surgeons who perform endoscopic and laparoscopic surgical procedures as part of their practice. Membership is open to board-certified surgeons who have demonstrated experience and proficiency in gastrointestinal endoscopic surgery. The Society establishes standards of minimal access surgical training and practice, and has developed guidelines for training, clinical applications, and privileging in laparoscopic surgery and gastrointestinal endoscopy.
Dr. Kuvshinoff’s research interests include the use of minimally invasive techniques in the staging and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, radiofrequency ablation of primary and secondary liver tumors, surgical treatment of hepatobiliary and pancreatic malignancies, and neoadjuvant therapy with sphincter-sparing surgery for low-lying rectal cancer. Dr. Kuvshinoff has authored or co-authored more than 70 journal publications, book chapters and abstracts.
