Roswell Park Surgeon Accepted to Association of Academic Surgery
BUFFALO, NY- Chukwumere E. Nwogu, MD, staff surgeon in the Department of Thoracic Surgery at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) has been accepted as a member of the Association of Academic Surgery (AAS).
AAS members traditionally hold faculty appointments at recognized academic centers, such as RPCI. Members are responsible for maintaining active laboratories at their institution, and supporting the AAS mission to promote the shared vision of research and academic pursuits through the exchange of ideas between senior surgical residents, junior faculty and established academic surgical professors.
Dr. Nwogu’s research interests include the lymphatic spread of lung and esophageal cancer; thoracoscopic and laparoscopic minimally-invasive lung and esophageal surgery; esophageal motility disorders; and bronchoscopic interventions (stenting, laser applications and photodynamic therapy). Dr. Nwogu has authored or co-authored several journal publications and is the principal investigator on several Roswell Park Cancer Institute research protocols.
