Position Details:

Shift:  Full-time; Days, Variable

Salary:  $44,175 annually.  Includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must possess a Master’s degree and the equivalent of 18 months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment; or a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of thirty (30) months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment.

NOTE:  Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Cancer Institute as following acceptable educational practices.

The preferred candidate will have 2-3 years of experience in human and mouse cytogenetics, knowledge of computer imaging and FISH analysis, NYS licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, and NCA certification.

Nature of Work and Responsibilities:

This Research Associate will be responsible for the set-up and maintenance of cell cultures, preparation of cells for conventional and molecular cytogenetic analysis, reagent preparation, microscopic analysis, karyotyping and related laboratory technology duties including routine maintenance of equipment, inventory, maintenance of supplies, and ordering of chemicals, supplies and reagents.  The incumbent will provide bookkeeping of daily experiments and analyses performed, maintain storage of frozen cells and cytogenetic preparations, and perform computer-assisted SKY and FISH analysis.
