Team Cure Challenges for Cancer Research and Patient Care

Runners, walkers, swimmers & cyclists encouraged to raise funds for tomorrow’s cancer cures while improving their own health
BUFFALO, NY - Roswell Park Cancer Institute and its Team Cure Challenge program is seeking persons 18 and older to fundraise and run, walk, swim or cycle in national athletic events on behalf of cancer patients.
Customized training, airfare, hotel accommodations, nutrition tips, transportation and registration fees are provided by the program to all participants who meet the Team Cure fundraising goal – participants only need provide spirit and stamina!
Over the past three years, Team Cure Challenge participants have raised over $340,000 for lifesaving cancer research and compassionate patient care programs at Roswell Park. This year, participants will once again have the opportunity to join the Orlando Challenge or the Lake Tahoe Challenge.
Runners and walkers will be able to visit with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and the whole DISNEY gang at the Orlando Challenge, taking place on January 12-13, 2008. The WALT DISNEY WORLD® Marathon Weekend features the following choices: a full marathon course that winds through all four WALT DISNEY WORLD® Theme Parks, a half marathon complete with Disney music and entertainment, Disney’s Family Fun Run 5K and Kids’ Races.
Lake Tahoe Challenge will take place on September 29, 2007. The event offers more choices than ever, including: a 20-mile, half marathon, 10K, or 5K walk or run; a 35- or 72-mile cycling route; and a one-mile swim in Lake Tahoe. Participants will cruise along tree lined trails amidst majestic rock formations and spectacular views of Emerald Bay, Cascade Lake and Lake Tahoe.
Training sessions for both Challenges have already begun, but new participants can still join the team by attending an information session on one of the following dates: Thursday, August 2; Tuesday, August 14; Wednesday, November 7; Monday, November 12; Tuesday, January 9 or Wednesday, January 16.
