Sixth Annual Carly’s Crossing Open-Water Swim
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 16, 2008
Carly’s Club and Roswell Park Cancer Institute invite swimmers of all ages to participate in a unique, open-water swimming event on Buffalo’s waterfront this August to benefit pediatric cancer research and patient care programs.
Swimmers will dive into the waters at the Buffalo Small Boat Harbor at Gallagher Beach on Saturday, August 16 for this fun, family-oriented event presented by Creditors Interchange. All proceeds raised will benefit Carly’s Club for Kids & Cancer Research at Roswell Park.
Carly’s Crossing features options of one-mile and 600-yard non-competitive courses, as well as a one-mile timed course. The event begins at 7:30 a.m. and is open to competitive and recreational swimmers of all ages who are willing to raise a minimum of $75 in pledges. Swimmers raising $150 or more are eligible to swim in two courses.
Participants are given a personalized web page with a secure online donation form, enabling family, friends and other supporters to easily pledge funds. Food, entertainment, family activities and a swimmer recognition ceremony will follow at Gallagher Beach throughout the day. Additionally, participants and attendees will have the chance to enjoy tethered hot air balloon rides.
Last year’s event involved 300 swimmers who raised over $85,000 for the most promising research seeking cures, and patient programs supporting children and families facing cancer.
For registration and sponsorship details, or to support this year’s swimmers through a secure online pledge, visit www.CarlysCrossing.com or call Robin Hace at 716-845-4100.
