Roswell Park’s Team Cure Lake Tahoe Challenge Seeks Walkers, Runners, Swimmers, Cyclists

Training, Airfare and Accommodations Provided for Successful Fundraisers
(BUFFALO, NY) – Roswell Park Cancer Institute is seeking runners, bicyclists, swimmers and walkers to participate in a new Team Cure challenge event at Lake Tahoe, September 30, 2006. The event will raise money for groundbreaking cancer research seeking cures, and compassionate patient care programs at Roswell Park. A 12- to 16-week training program run by professional coaches gets underway on June 2 to help interested participants prepare for the event.
Participants will choose from the marathon, 20-mile, half-marathon, 10K or 5K walk or race; 72-mile or 33-mile bike races; or a 1-mile swim around Lake Tahoe. The program will include a customized training plan, nutritional tips, and equipment advice. In exchange for achieving their minimum required fundraising goal, participants will receive round-trip airfare, three nights hotel accommodations, transportation, registration fees, a team dinner and breakfast, and a victory party at the Lake Tahoe marathon event.
The Team Cure Lake Tahoe Challenge is the only endurance-training program to exclusively benefit Roswell Park and Western New York cancer patients.
Anyone interested in taking part in the Team Cure Lake Tahoe Challenge can attend one of Roswell Park’s upcoming information sessions. The first session will be held April 26 at 6 pm at the Buffalo Athletic Club Eastern Hills, 4687 Transit Road, Williamsville, and the second session will be May 4at 6 pm at Roswell Park Cancer Institute’s Research Studies Center, in the Gaylord Cary room. Additional sessions are scheduled for May 8 at the Jewish Community Center, 2640 N. Forest Road, Getzville, and May 11 at Roswell Park’s Research Studies Center.
